Duration: Feb 2022 – Dec 2024
The Young at Heart project, funded by Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, explores the transformative potential of creative aging in the post-COVID-19 era. Running from February 2022 to December 2024, this national research initiative seeks to chart a path for sustainable, creative growth among aging citizens in Thailand.
In a rapidly evolving social and economic landscape, the project focuses on the collaboration between governmental organizations, private sectors, networks, communities, and social groups in supporting creative aging initiatives. By examining these interconnections, Young at Heart sheds light on the systemic support structures that help aging individuals engage meaningfully in creative endeavours.
The research takes a personalized approach by engaging directly with creative aging citizens. It seeks to understand how they initiate artistic or entrepreneurial practices, share their work with the public, and sustain these efforts over time. Through these personal stories, the study identifies key factors such as inspiration, resource availability, and strategic planning that contribute to the success and sustainability of creative aging projects.
This comprehensive exploration also highlights the challenges and opportunities unique to the post-pandemic context, offering practical insights into the resilience and adaptability of creative aging initiatives. By focusing on both collective and individual efforts, Young at Heart provides recommendations for fostering long-term sustainability in creative aging, empowering older adults to thrive as active contributors to their communities.
Young at Heart not only deepens our understanding of creative aging in Thailand but also serves as a vital resource for policymakers, organizations, and individuals seeking to build a supportive and vibrant environment for aging populations.
