We are excited to announce the launch of a new initiative that is aimed at young women-identifying individuals who are passionate about supporting their community and transforming the world for good. Entrenched gender inequality has led to continuing pay gaps and under-representation of women in business-leadership positions. Gender issues are paramount because 46.7% of social innovators in Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar are women, according to a survey by the Southeast Asian Social Innovation Network in 2018, further highlighting the importance of women in the region’s social innovation scene. We are piloting a 4-month mentoring programme that draws on the experience and expertise from DESIAP members to support young, emerging leaders in the region. Our pilot scheme will support a cohort of 8 mentees from SEAsia, matched with 8 mentors, running between July to October 2021. We have enlisted the support of 8 fabulous and dynamic women who are leaders in their field as mentors. They are:- Areli Ardenvano
- Suthasina Chaolertseree (Fern)
- Fumiko Ichikawa
- Sasibai Klimis
- Sharon Khoo
- Lina Patel
- Naw Tha Ku Paul (Mie Mie)
- Lauren Tan
- Sayaka Watanabe
