Circular Design Praxis: Weaving together pluriversal actualities from Asia-Pacific worlds

Japan

by Daijiro Mizuno, Hiroya Tanaka, Kazutoshi Tsuda, Yoko Akama, Dan Hill, Re:public Inc

Circular Design Praxis (CDP) is a movement that values the circular designs that arise from the wealth of local culture and vernacular practices.

By interweaving this creative and embodied knowledge, we aim to bring forth pluriversal and sustainable actualities.

Our relentless pursuit of convenience, safety and comfort has led to the crises of the anthropocene.

Acknowledging this reality, what is needed more now than ever, is to take a careful look at the ground beneath us, and reassess our relationships to existing cultures,
technologies and natural environments.

From such inquiry, we might uncover opportunities for alternative configurations for conviviality.

The living practices of the Asia-Pacific have developed in a culture of more-than-human cohabitations to form a tapestry of knowledge, wisdom, acts and aesthetics.

CDP takes the recognition of the abundance of our lands as a starting point, from this we will cultivate a place of praxis, coming together as a collective of diverse peoples, backgrounds and expertise.

Together we hope to tackle planetary challenges. We welcome you to join us in our transition toward more pluriversal and sustainable places.
