Design and Social Innovation Impact and Evaluation

The 2017 Design and Social Innovation in Asia-Pacific (DESIAP) Public Symposium will be held at the Majlis Rekabentuk Malaysia (MRM) in Kuala Lumpur on the 21st of December 2017. DESIAP KL will be our 3rd public symposium hosted by the DESIAP network following successful events in Singapore (2015) and Bangkok (2016). DESIAP KL brings together participants from around South-East Asia who are already doing socially impactful work. They play a catalytic role in social innovation and entrepreneurship networks in their localities, making the mutual learning they acquire go further, through their sharing, mentoring and support to communities in their own contexts.

Our 2016 DESIAP Public Symposium was held at the Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC) in Bangkok on the 12th of July 2016. It was our second public symposium bringing together an exciting range of practitioners and researchers of design and social innovation from over ten countries around Asia‐Pacific.

The videos of all the talks and discussion that took place is now online. A summary of the 2-day workshop is also available here. Our first academic paper that’s come out of what we learnt so far has also been published at the 2016 Cumulus Hong Kong conference.

The Design for Social Innovation in Asia Pacific (DESIAP) is a unique gathering of key change-makers in Asia-Pacific who are all shaping the landscape of design and social innovation in this region. The inaugural event took place at the National Design Centre, Singapore, on 5-6th February 2015. ‘From Things to Services: The rise of service design and social innovation in Asia Pacific’ attracted over 150 people during the two-day event to share local stories, inspire ideas, stimulate discussion, provoke thinking and collaboratively explore what it means to design in this landscape.
